PARKLAND, FL — A Parkland-based Physical Therapy business is beginning to see the fruits from years of education, training, and even mentorship. Quality In Home Therapy, which is owned by Parkland resident Vinnie Bombara, has seen tremendous growth over the past couple of years. Recently, Bombara hired his Physical Therapy “mentor,” Aaron Dougherty, to join the team.
“What an incredible opportunity for both of us,” said Bombara recently. “It’s a blessing to be able to work together again with Aaron.”
When Dr. Vinnie Bombara, DPT, met Aaron Dougherty, PT, back in 2011, it was the start of a professional relationship that would eventually come full circle. At the time, Bombara had just finished his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and was completing a post-professional residency in geriatrics. Dougherty was his clinical mentor. He was already an experienced Therapist with decades of leadership under his belt and a reputation for compassion and excellence.
Over the next decade, their paths crossed often. Bombara bounced between roles, searching for something deeper and more purpose-driven in the field of rehabilitation. Dougherty, meanwhile, led therapy teams, mentored younger clinicians, and continued shaping patient care from the inside. But both shared the same frustration with a health care system that too often let patients slip through the cracks.
In 2020, Bombara opened Quality In Home Therapy, built around the idea of bringing high-quality outpatient therapy directly into patients’ homes. The goal was to make care more accessible, more personal, and more effective, especially for older adults trying to maintain their independence.
“I saw the same issues repeating themselves no matter the setting,” Bombara said. “People were losing their independence because they couldn’t access the right care at the right time. I wanted to fix that.”
Over the past five years, Quality In Home Therapy has grown steadily, serving patients across the community and earning praise for its patient-first approach.
“It’s been extremely rewarding,” Bombara said. “It’s made me feel good about therapy again.”
This fall, the mentor-mentee relationship came full circle when Dougherty joined the team. With over 25 years of experience in post-acute rehabilitation, a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont, and a background in biology from St. Michael’s College, Dougherty brings both clinical depth and heart to the role.
“I watched what Vinnie was building and saw the difference it was making,” Dougherty said. “It was exactly the kind of work that reminded me why I got into this profession in the first place.”
As partners, Bombara and Dougherty are focused on expanding their mission. They’re helping people age safely and confidently in place while building a stronger community around senior health and wellness.
“Our next step is to grow, connect, and give back,” Bombara said. “We want to create a true support system, a ‘village,’ where people can find the right help, whether that’s therapy, fitness, nutrition, or simply the right referral.”
Rather than just building a referral network, the team is building a more holistic, connected system of care.
“It’s not just about who we can treat,” Bombara added. “It’s about helping people live longer, healthier lives. Even if that means connecting them to someone else.”
