Ron’s In-Home Physical Therapy Success Story – Parkland, FL

A 77-year-old artist and hairstylist rebuilt strength, balance, and confidence through specialized in-home physical therapy in Parkland, FL with Dr. Vincenzo Bombara, DPT. At 77 years old, Ron has lived a life shaped by creativity, resilience, and love. Born in Flushing, New York, he moved with his family to a low-cost housing project in Brooklyn when he was eight. Even as a child, art brought him joy. He later attended the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, developing the creativity that defined his life. After graduating, Ron pursued hairstyling while working as a waiter by day and hairdressing school by night. He worked at a small salon near Gramercy Park for 20 years, then spent 44 years as a hairdresser, building lasting client relationships while expressing his artistic eye. In New York, he met Elliot, the love of his life. Together 52 years and married 11, they moved to Florida to live by the ocean. A Surgery That Changed Everything Ron’s health challenges began when doctors discovered his cervical spine canal was too narrow, compressing his spinal cord. He walked into surgery pain-free but emerged with chronic pain that never subsided. Years later, disaster struck again. His leg suddenly collapsed, shattering and requiring complex ankle replacement surgery similar to hip or knee replacements. Before surgery, his leg hung suspended for three weeks while swelling subsided. Post-surgery, Ron faced rebuilding strength and mobility from nothing. For this lifetime athlete, losing independence was emotionally devastating. Meeting Dr. Vincenzo “Vinnie” Bombara That’s when his journey with Dr. Vincenzo Bombara, DPT, GCS, MBA began—Florida Licensed Physical Therapist #PT26831 and Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist #42342. Bedridden and emotionally exhausted, Ron met Dr. Bombara who taught him basic transitions: bed to wheelchair. “I had to learn everything again,” Ron remembers. Dr. Bombara saw beyond physical limitations: “He was very depressed and giving up. But we stuck together.” The turning point? Dr. Bombara’s words: “There is no such thing as having no core or balance. We are going to build you one.” The Power of In-Home Physical Therapy Progress began in rehabilitation, then continued in Ron’s home through in-home physical therapy in Parkland, FL. Each small success restored strength and confidence. For Ron, recovery meant more than exercises—it meant trust. “Dr. Vinnie is the only person in my life I never second-guess,” Ron says. “I trust him with my life.” Dr. Bombara’s approach emphasized progress over perfection: “Don’t worry if you didn’t do it right the first time or second. Let’s get it right the third.” Progress began in rehabilitation, then continued in Ron’s home through in-home physical therapy in Parkland, FL. Each small success restored strength and confidence. Elliot receives twice-weekly sessions for sciatica, now mostly resolved. Ron returned to his passions: painting, sculpting, interior design. He enjoys thrillers, horror films, and crime stories with dramatic car chases. Most importantly, he regained hope. “I will swear on a Bible, he is the best human being I have ever known,” Ron says. “If I had a son, I would want him to be just like Vincenzo—a fantastic father, friend, husband, and physical therapist.” “I don’t think emotionally or physically I would have ever gotten through this without Dr. Vinnie. He was God’s gift to me.” *“Every time I refer someone to Dr. Vinnie,” Ron adds, “they don’t stop thanking me.” Ron’s journey proves recovery means rebuilding confidence and purpose through personalized care that sees the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

Laura’s In-Home Physical Therapy Success Story – Parkland, FL

A 79-year-old former tennis player regained complete independence through specialized in-home physical therapy in Parkland, FL with Dr. Vincenzo Bombara, DPT. Born and raised on Long Island, Laura moved to South Florida in 1968, building a vibrant life in Boca Raton. She spent 20 years as an administrator at Pine Crest School, leading successful fundraising campaigns, while tennis remained her lifelong passion and source of strength. In 2019, Laura had a left hip replacement and made a full recovery, returning to the tennis courts. But 2023 brought a different story. A right hip replacement was complicated by a nerve block that left her right leg completely paralyzed from thigh to foot. Just two weeks after being sent home, she suffered a femur fracture. She returned to Holy Cross Hospital, followed by a rehabilitation facility, and was now facing the prospect of returning alone to her Boca Raton townhouse with 16 stairs. Meeting Dr. Vincenzo Bombara That’s when she met Dr. Vincenzo Bombara, DPT, GCS, MBA—Florida Licensed Physical Therapist #PT26831 and Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist #42342. Working at the rehabilitation facility, Dr. Bombara introduced advanced neuromuscular reactivation techniques to restore nerve function. Equally important was his approach: “Laura, you are a tennis player. You are strong. You know how to do this.” After months of rehabilitation, Laura had regained physical function but lost confidence due to her fear of falling. Dr. Bombara rebuilt both. The Difference of True In-Home Physical Therapy When Laura returned home, traditional insurance home health therapy proved inadequate—short 20-minute visits with no continuity of care. Then Dr. Bombara began in-home physical therapy in Parkland, FL. “Vinnie is the full package,” Laura says. “It was night and day.” Measurable Progress Through Specialized Care Dr. Bombara worked with her twice weekly for full 60-minute sessions, focusing on: By October, Laura was walking through the mall using only a cane. By 2025, she was managing luggage, navigating airports, and traveling internationally, fully reclaiming her active life. Overcoming a Devastating Fall In December 2025, Laura was walking to meet friends when she dodged a car but fell on uneven pavement, fracturing her wrist, kneecap, and nose. Bedridden for two months in a cast and brace, she texted Dr. Bombara an emergency room photo after Christmas: “I need you again.” Custom Solutions for Complete Recovery Dr. Bombara immediately resumed care, rebuilding strength in her leg, wrist, and shoulder. One particularly challenging issue was a protruding wrist bone that made writing impossible. He created a custom support pad that allowed her wrist to rest comfortably while writing. “Here is just one more example of how Vinnie has helped me overcome disability,” Laura explains. “Thanks to his ingenuity, I am able to write again. I am so very grateful for everything he has done to help me become independent.” By January 2026, Laura had made a complete recovery. Long-Term Wellness Partnership Today, Laura’s care has evolved beyond rehabilitation into a comprehensive long-term health and wellness program focused on aging gracefully. Their work now includes fall prevention strategies, balance training, strength development, plyometrics, functional resistance training, and patient education. “Her care evolved from physical rehabilitation into investing in her future,” Dr. Bombara explains. For Laura, recovery is no longer just about returning to who she was. It’s about moving forward with confidence, independence, and strength. “Vinnie is the full package. I am so grateful for my independence.” — Laura, Boca Raton

From Room-Bound to Beach Walks: A Remarkable Success Story of Care and Commitment

True success in healthcare is measured not just by treatment plans, but by the lives changed through care, dedication, and trust. This success story reflects what compassionate, personalized therapy can achieve when delivered with consistency and heart. When this patient first came under our care, his mobility was extremely limited. He was largely room-bound within his condo, facing daily challenges that made even simple movement difficult. Our clinical team carefully assessed his condition and developed a personalized therapy plan focused on improving strength, balance, and overall mobility — all within the comfort of his own home. Through ongoing therapy, encouragement, and close clinical support, progress began to show. Step by step, his confidence and independence improved. What once felt impossible slowly became achievable. Movement turned into freedom, and therapy sessions became moments of motivation rather than limitation. The most inspiring milestone came as he approached his 99th birthday. Not only was he able to move freely throughout his condo, but he achieved something truly special — walking along the beach and enjoying the moment with joy and confidence. It wasn’t just a walk; it was a celebration of life, independence, and the power of dedicated care. This success story represents our mission as clinicians serving Parkland, Coral Springs, and surrounding communities. We are committed to providing personalized therapy that helps individuals regain independence, enjoy life’s meaningful moments, and live with dignity at every stage. Seeing our patients not only recover but truly enjoy their lives is what drives us every day.

Teaming Up Again; How a Mentor and Mentee are Providing Care for the Parkland Community

PARKLAND, FL — A Parkland-based Physical Therapy business is beginning to see the fruits from years of education, training, and even mentorship. Quality In Home Therapy, which is owned by Parkland resident Vinnie Bombara, has seen tremendous growth over the past couple of years. Recently, Bombara hired his Physical Therapy “mentor,” Aaron Dougherty, to join the team. “What an incredible opportunity for both of us,” said Bombara recently. “It’s a blessing to be able to work together again with Aaron.” When Dr. Vinnie Bombara, DPT, met Aaron Dougherty, PT, back in 2011, it was the start of a professional relationship that would eventually come full circle. At the time, Bombara had just finished his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and was completing a post-professional residency in geriatrics. Dougherty was his clinical mentor. He was already an experienced Therapist with decades of leadership under his belt and a reputation for compassion and excellence. Over the next decade, their paths crossed often. Bombara bounced between roles, searching for something deeper and more purpose-driven in the field of rehabilitation. Dougherty, meanwhile, led therapy teams, mentored younger clinicians, and continued shaping patient care from the inside. But both shared the same frustration with a health care system that too often let patients slip through the cracks. In 2020, Bombara opened Quality In Home Therapy, built around the idea of bringing high-quality outpatient therapy directly into patients’ homes. The goal was to make care more accessible, more personal, and more effective, especially for older adults trying to maintain their independence. “I saw the same issues repeating themselves no matter the setting,” Bombara said. “People were losing their independence because they couldn’t access the right care at the right time. I wanted to fix that.” Over the past five years, Quality In Home Therapy has grown steadily, serving patients across the community and earning praise for its patient-first approach.  “It’s been extremely rewarding,” Bombara said. “It’s made me feel good about therapy again.” This fall, the mentor-mentee relationship came full circle when Dougherty joined the team. With over 25 years of experience in post-acute rehabilitation, a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont, and a background in biology from St. Michael’s College, Dougherty brings both clinical depth and heart to the role. “I watched what Vinnie was building and saw the difference it was making,” Dougherty said. “It was exactly the kind of work that reminded me why I got into this profession in the first place.” As partners, Bombara and Dougherty are focused on expanding their mission. They’re helping people age safely and confidently in place while building a stronger community around senior health and wellness. “Our next step is to grow, connect, and give back,” Bombara said. “We want to create a true support system, a ‘village,’ where people can find the right help, whether that’s therapy, fitness, nutrition, or simply the right referral.” Rather than just building a referral network, the team is building a more holistic, connected system of care.  “It’s not just about who we can treat,” Bombara added. “It’s about helping people live longer, healthier lives. Even if that means connecting them to someone else.” For more information, please visit Quality In-Home Therapy online.

One Year Later, Accident Victim Begins to Walk with Help from Parkland Physical Therapist

PARKLAND, FL,- The Holiday Season began like any other last year for local resident Jose Honorio.  It was the end of 2023, and the painter was working on the third floor of the outside of a condominium in Coral Springs.  He was reaching to take down an American flag when a gust of wind caused him to lose balance and fall, crashing to the ground below. The fall left him with severe fractures to his pelvis, arm, ankle, ribs, and sternum. Honorio was rushed to the hospital and fitted with an external fixator. The severity of the injury so great that Honorio was hardly able to move any part of his body, due the trauma of the fall and the sheer number of broken bones and issues his body experienced. Everything was painful or needing time to recover; Honorio couldn’t even get up to use the bathroom, requiring an IV or a catheter for basic function. After being sent home from the hospital, Jose was completely bedridden for weeks, unable even to sit up. Honorio’s wife began to look for Physical Therapy options to help Jose quite literally get back on his feet. She found and began working with Vincenzo Bombara, owner of Quality In-Home Therapy of Parkland. “Jose was in rough shape when I first met him,” said Bombara. “Multiple fractures all over, and his body couldn’t even support his own weight from the injuries, let alone allow him to function normally.” In the beginning, even simple tasks seemed impossible. With Vincenzo’s guidance, Jose made small but significant progress, starting with sitting at the edge of the bed. As his bones healed, he gained the strength to stand, and his Foley catheter was removed. “It was a big step just to be able to sit up, and then to stand,” added Bombara. “We finally got to that point, which was the beginning of new challenges. While living on the third floor of a condo without an elevator, Honorio had not been able to leave his condominium for months except for ambulance trips. The next step in his recovery was stair training. Slowly, with Vincenzo’s encouragement, Jose began to regain his strength and eventually navigated the stairs to his apartment. After nearly a year of hard work, Jose is finally regaining his independence. He can now take longer walks, shower on his own, and is practicing car training to leave his home and socialize with family. His ability to navigate the stairs marks a major milestone in his recovery, and soon he will be able to leave his home without relying on an ambulance. “The length of recovery and distance from being bedridden to climbing stairs and going outside on his own is huge,” said Bombara. “It’s been, quite literally, one step at a time.” With the support of his wife and excellent therapy from Bombara, Jose is well on his way to reclaiming his life and independence again.  “Even the roughest and most traumatic injuries can be overcome, as Jose has shown us.,” summarized Bombara. “One year later, this life-changing injury as now an amazing part of his recovery and personal journey in life.” For more information about In-Home Therapy or to have a consultation with Dr. Vincenzo Bombara, please visit Quality In Home Therapy online.
